Our Story
A human problem needed a human solution.
In 2019, Council on Aging (COA) saw a growing challenge across home- and community-based services: demand for care was increasing, the workforce was shrinking, and more people were looking for flexible self-directed options that could help them stay supported at home.
This was not just a system issue. It was a human one.
COA recognized that self-directed care was growing in popularity, but barriers such as paperwork, long enrollment steps, and limited personal networks still made it hard for many people to find and hire the support they needed.
From 2020 to 2022, the team moved from concept to development, using technology and lessons from gig economy platforms to build a simpler, more connected way for participants, caregivers, and programs to find one another and stay aligned.
AddnAide launched in Cincinnati in 2022, expanded to Dayton from 2022 to 2024, and in 2026 is ready to scale based on strong performance in visit completion, EVV, matching, and retention.
